Balance Exercises

Exercise Guidelines


People with OA experience decreased balance with activities. Static and Dynamic Balance exercises will help combat this. Tai Chi has been shown to improve balance and function.

Each exercise offers 3 different options, the first option is easiest and then increases in difficulty. The exercises should be held or performed for 30 seconds, 3 times or repeated 30 times. The videos should be completed in their entirety.

Static Balance: Level 1: Feet together, Level 2: Tandem Stance, Level 3: Single Leg Stance

Dynamic Balance: Level 1: Weight Shifts, Level 2: Toe Taps, Level 3: Cone Taps

Dynamic Balance : Level 1: Chair in front, toe taps backwards, Level 2: Chair in front, lifting one leg behind, Level 3: Single-leg Romanian Deadlift
